NissanConnect Services lets you control features such as remote locking, remote engine start, and emergency calling via a companion mobile app.

For the interior space, the 2024 Altima and the 2024 K5 offer identically sized passenger cabins and trunks. Both midsize sedans are rated to seat up to five adults across two rows. Leather seating and carbon-fiber trim are present on some trims of the 2024 Altima, while the 2024 K5 can be optioned with wood trim.

Nissan’s unique Zero Gravity Seats are designed to reduce driver and passenger fatigue by minimizing pressure hotspots on the human body and tend to be more comfortable than Kia's seats. Both cars include dual-zone climate control and heated front seats. Power adjustment is available on some trims.

The 2024 Altima and the 2024 K5 come with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. Lower trims of both cars use an 8-inch touchscreen for infotainment functions. Performance Comparison

The 2024 Altima offers a choice of two powertrains, depending on trim selection. The first is a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine. Developing 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, the engine drives the front wheels via a CVT gearbox. Buyers can also choose an all-wheel-drive system.

Then, there’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine called the VC-Turbo. The engine is a variable-compression unit that utilizes the Miller cycle. It can deliver 248 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque on 93-octane fuel. Using 87-octane fuel drops output to 236 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. This engine drives the front wheels via a CVT gearbox. An all-wheel-drive system is not available with this powertrain.

The all-wheel-drive 2024 Altima with the 2.5-liter engine can do 0-60 in 7.4 seconds as per independent testing. The VC-Turbo achieves 5.9 seconds in the same benchmark and includes a sportier suspension system for more dynamic handling characteristics.

Most 2024 K5 trims have a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive are standard. An all-wheel-drive system is optional. The GT trim gets a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This engine pumps out 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. It has an 8-speed automatic transmission and is only available in front-wheel-drive form.

Safety Features Comparison

The 2024 Altima includes Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite of active and passive safety technologies. All variants have automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear automatic braking. All trims also receive lane departure warning, blind spot assist, and high beam assist.

The 2024 K5 includes many, but not all, of these functions. Both cars also have airbags, brake assist, and daytime running lamps. Adaptive cruise control is offered as an option.
